Runway and Street trends: S/S 2011 edition

by IRENE SUBANG & RAKIEL TALAN

A tribute to chaos and its beauty.

SPORADIC SPOTS : Menswear

This spring,
Science, art and spontaneity splash
to create the splatters on menswear
Just like those graphically... erm... graphic garbs from
Kenzo,  Jean Paul Gaultier, and Dries van Noten.

Not merely a chemistry class accidental,
splatters add quirk and color to the tailored suit of the corporate male.

Bottom line, Quit the stern face go have fun!

MORI GAL (FOREST GIRL) : Women swear

Girls seeking nostalgia, simplicity and carefree life.
They were tired of the wired world and
the everyday haste of a seemingly meaningless life full of material desires,
they have come to their own
fantasy dress up world
attuned with the forests
(as if the world still have some forest. Illegal logging, anyone?) .

A cult-style in Japan  circa 2006,
best described with girls wearing A-line outfits,
layers and layers of organic fabric, some vintage dresses, all in muted pastel colors,
as if they came from the lonely girls in story books or in other words,

Kenichi Muramatsu AW 2010-2011 JFW

Kenichi Muramatsu AW 2010-2011 JFW
FLUFFFFYYYYYYY!! *(^__^)*

yes no sexual innuendo here

NOW  in Harajuku and influencing Japanese runways one cotton ball at a time.

Fur Fur AW 2010-2011 JFW
Anna Sui S/S 2011

Liz Lisa’s Spring/Summer 2011 (mori gyaru)
another version but towards attracting the opposite sex

Bottom line, puff on your  random loose knits and fluffy stuff, air dry hair, be earth friendly and be carefree ~~

MIXED UNMATCHED: womens wear

Anything goes

Chanel made a floral version toned down with some plain parts of the garment and styling.

Alexander Mc Queen retained its signature graphic style, matched different versions  of  prints  and fabric weights on a similar color palette.

Kenzo Stripes, Florals and more quirky prints is subtle palette. Its Icelandic meets MORI GAL to our eyes.

Contrast is the name of Galliano's game.

MiuMiu with a  pow! kaboom! and a bang!  with its comic inspired look.

Vanesa bruno uses the knit and the undershirt to give off texture and more printed look.

SHOE GEEKERY: Footwear

Step into a pair of fairytale fantasy with the Alice in Wonderland-inspired heels this spring.

Nicholas Kirkwood for Alice in the Wonderland (Tim burton)

Be Alice herself or even Cinderella or even Snow White as you strut in heels adorned with blossoms, ribbons, and figures.

Go Steam-punk (or Assemblage) and  Rococo on the embellishments. Dainty Dainty Dainty

Or bring out the comic heroine in a cartoon-glazed stiletto pair.
Keith Harring Collection - Nicholas Kirkwood

Be the superstar, the sexy villain, or the pretty damsel waiting for Prince Charming in the dainty fairytale shoes or in edgy comic heels.

Future Collectables of Browns collection - Nicholas Kirkwood

Go GRAPHIC

bonus: something for the men,

THE HAIR IS  LONG
THE LIPS  HEALTHILY PALE
EYES WITH LIGHTBROW CIRCLES

Majority of the runway models, carried the long locks and were put on some brownish to tan make up for the eye as if they had to pull some all nighters so that also explains the almost nude lips.
