Spring Summer 2011 Trend Report

Lace is Love

If there’s one thing I love and will never let go of, it’s lace. The sheer and sexy fabric never fails to either cover up or give that little tease. You get the best of both worlds with lace! Check out the photo below to see what I mean…

One of the other things I love about lace is how it exudes a certain romantic flair. Also matter how you wear style it, lace will evolve in an outfit naturally…just be sure to pair the colors right, of course!

If you’re a first time lace user, I’d suggest to use it as a cover up. Think lace jackets/sweaters, scarves, or those hanging sleeveless vests. BUT! If you’re the daring type, then by all means, don’t be shy! Go for the full lace dress! Just be cautious of where you wear it and pick the appropriate underwear for it, and you’re good to go!

The 60’s

Ladylike

This trend for spring/summer 2011 is composed of the late 50’s style ala Mad Men or the ladylike dressing and not the mod movement that surfaced after. Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs and Prada are only some of the designers who have embraced the upcoming trend.
The granny skirt is one of the key pieces of this trend. I know the “granny” part could be a bit scary but worry not for these top designers have put their own twists and styles to it and made it as their own to create that NOW look.

They have replaced conservative-looking tops with fitted or sheer ones to avoid that granny effect. They are aiming for a more sensual look on the garments and are reviving that hourglass fit with sheath skirts and dresses. Their up-to-date designs can give you that bombshell look that Joan Holloway from Mad Men has that allows a woman to embrace her curves and boosts her confidence in her everyday life.

Biker Chic

Move over Military Chic, because the Bikers are coming to kick your boots off! The Military phase is now slowly coming to a close and the Biker Chic trend is riding its way in. So, start refreshing your wardrobe with leather jackets, studs, and Biker Chic whatnots!

Check out Burberry’s take on this upcoming trend…

It’s like biker-meets-rocker-meets-office chic all in one! What more can a rocker-style fan could ask for? Not only does it give that oomph, but it gives sophistication as well. It’s just the right balance for the people who want to be edgy, yet refined at the same time.

One of the things I love about this trend is how easy it is to pull off. All you can do is just put together a refined office look, and top if off with a studded jacket or anything like it.

I hope that this trend won’t fade like the Military Chic, because in my opinion, this trend is meant to be a classic look for many trends to come!

Foiled Nails

Tired of the usual flat colored nail polish on your fingers? Well, here’s something new coming this spring summer 2011…Foiled Nails!

Foiled nails? Yes, foiled nails.

Think metallic nails with a twist!

The twist of this trend gives a more textured look instead of the usual flat colored nail. Meaning, you probably won’t need rings to accessorize your hands, because the foiled nails can already do the job!
Also, this nail trend is as easy as 1-2-3! All you need to do is do your first coat with a dark metallic polish. Then take a rub on foil paper and scratch on the gold painted side on your nail. Dust off the excess and coat with clear polish to keep the foil in place. See, now wasn’t that just a breeze? Plus, you don’t need to worry about chipping, because it’s part of it!

 Oversized Jewelry

For spring/summer 2011, oversized jewelry is a big must to complete your fashion-forward look. It is coming back next year to make that bold and trendy statement that you want your outfit to have so we’re sure it will have a big comeback once it’s out and embraced.
For fashion empires such as Malandrino, Dolce & Gabbana and Bottega Veneta, they have created oversized jewelries that are very versatile and eye-catching since they’re made mostly out of metal and geometric patterns.

Aside from the fact that these jewelries are gorgeous and trendy, they also lead the eye to your body’s strongest point. You can wear an oversized necklace to highlight your beautiful shoulders or bust. And you can also wear an oversized bangle to lead the eyes to your fine-cut arms. On the other hand, you can also use it as a distraction for the eyes if you’re only a little proud of some of your curves. For instance, wearing oversized earrings can keep an observer’s eye only at your upper extremities and distract it from the lower one.
So whether you’re accenting, distracting or just experimenting, oversized jewelry is the best way to update your look and be trendy for spring/summer 2011.
